love forever.
I went as saw the Yayoi Kusama exhibition at wellington art gallery yesterday, and it sounds stupid, but it pretty much changed my life. No, correction; it left me feeling like i had found the answer to life, and became enlightened. There was one artwork, that was a room wall papered with wall paper (surprised?) that was yellow with black dots. Then inside the room, there were big blown-up shapes (two that hung from the ceiling, three on the ground) that were also yellow with black dots. It was quite a big room, and it made me feel hyper joyful. Like I didn't have to worry about anything at all, ever again - just because the room was so bright and happy, and free.
There were two rooms that had both the walls and the ceiling covered in mirrors. the back of the door was covered with a mirror as well. One of them had the floor covered with white-with-pink-polka-dots shapes that were about five-ish inches tall, but it varied. because of all the mirrors, it felt like there were millions of them, and heaps of you. like the scene was being reproduced heaps of times around you. Like literally strawberry fields forever.
but the most amazing was the other room, it had mirrors on the walls, on the roof and the back of the door. there was water all around the platform you stand on to look at the room, there was no source of light but two maybe three dozen bright, brightly coloured lights (think fairy lights, but separate) that hung from the ceiling on black wire. when the door closed, it was like being surrounded by infinity. everywhere you looked there was small dots of light. it was amazing. i can't even explain it. (:
happy hunting kids.
