Blog of revealations 1.

So. Screw it. Screw being skinny - if you don't find me attractive for how I am, then what in hell am I doing anywhere near you?! Screw being anything that isn't what I am - if you can't deal with it, then fine. Whatever. I don't care what anyone but the people whom I love and like think. So, get back on your bike if you don't like me, I'm not going to even worry about you. But if you do like me, why not come in for a cuppa?

yeah, yeah yeah...

all images / Megan Cullen

Megan Cullen is really cool. Check her out. It's homegrown photograph - none of this fancy pants stuff. It's honest, chilled and beautiful.

OH WOW!

Oh wow! Hey look it's MAGGIE!

Genes and pens

The main problem in my life right now is stress, and lucky for me I seem to have inheriated a gene which makes me voulenteer for things, therefore, making me more stressed. I offered to be the chairperson for a 'Business group' who is going to sell five thousand pens for four bucks a piece to raise mnoney for the school, and st john. The 'plan' they gave us to use is pretty bad to be honest... Well, some bits are good, but overall, it's driving me bananas. Oh well right? Could be worse. They're pretty good pens. Note the 'pretty' part of the last sentence. Still though, anyone want to buy a pen?

Holly and OAK

image / the fashionisto.

Gosh darn you Lennart for introducing me to OAK. Now I'll never have any money! But I will have awesome clothes... So... Tamato, tamato. My favourite so far is the black keyholed layer dress, by Kaylee Tankus. It's just really quite simple and sweet. Or I'm assuming so. The thumbnail image was quite small.. OAK actually has everything. Womens AND men's clothing. Necklanes, rings, bracelets, jackets, shoes, perfume, toilettes, black studded sparkling cluthes on chains, and I don't even know what this is! It's amazing. There's even free shipping on orders over a hundred bucks! Anyone want to lend me some money...? Haha. Just joking. OAK is another reason why I need a job.

It's Kaos baby!

image / the fashionisto

this is a chaotic, jumbled up photo shoot full of prints, colours and distorted images. It's fun, and although a bit assulting on vision, it's brillaint.

Milkshakes for five bucks.

image / fashion gone rouge.

this shoot is really beautiful. The model (who is American actress Amber Heard), has these brilliant facial expressions. I love the above photo, purely because of her expression, and that she's holding a milkshake container in her hand. Lovely. On the subject of milkshakes, Modaks has changed ownership. This means; no more aeolie with the vegan fries! WHAT THE?! And the milkshakes have gone up by fifty cents. Dear me, I fully think I might just pass out with the stress of all this change. But change can be real good, so, it's all gee bru.

Two heavenly creatures.

I just finished watching Heavenly Creatures. Intense is the word I'm probably going to repeat. Peter Jackson does a good job directing, the script is fantastic, and I have a new found respect for Kate Winslet. Very good film, anyone who wants to make it in the New Zealand film industry should watch it. It's one of the many homegrown films that is why we're on the film making map. Four stars, and mad props for real decent SFX.

Bore-dum

image / the fashionisto.

You know you'e hit accidemic sucess, when going on the internet is boring, and you want to do your work.

I'm just (not really) ego trippin'!

image/ derek henderson.

Hello. I'm being egotistical. I wrote a small piece of writing for an internal in Media Studies, and my teacher sent it into the ODT online editor, and it was put on the site. You can read it here. It's about Dunedin Fashion and yes. Go read it. The more views and traffic the site gets, the more Ms Mowat will praise me. Halleujah.

Oh it is love (2)

Image/ Yvan Rodic.

The sign reads; 'CAPITALISM KILLS LOVE.' I like it. A lot. Mostly because it's in neon writing, which seems to be a symbol of capitalism. Atleast, I think so. Life is pretty grand I have to admit. Three posts in one day is pretty excessive for me. Maddess? You mean sparta! (that's right, it's a deliberate wrong quote - does that even make sense?)

:D

image/ Hedi Slimane.

Dressed by Hedi Slimane, Daft Punk are even more lovely. Oh, it is love.

Boys jump off the cars, and splash into the street.

image / hedi slimane

As I sit inbewteen a conversation about American basketball, getting confusing, not knowing who the people are, or what the hell the conversation as a whole is about, I think I should probably do my photography. This is silly. I keep getting the urge to jump in with some witty remark, that I'll laugh at, but no one else. It's getting harder to resist. I'm trawling through photographs that Hedi Slimane (who happens to be an ex-Dior designer) has taken (well, it IS photography...), and I'm thinking; why this obsession with cigarettes. Sure, they smoke. Which is cool. Smoke furls and unfurls and twists and jives - but so do I. Am I cool? Do I deserve to be feature in (almost) every, underground, beautiful photoshoot? Yes. I do (Get the joke?!).  The boys either side of me are getting excited because they are playing pool online, and winning. There are periodic gasps of joy, grief and entertainment. This is one of those; This is your life moments. And I thought it was bad to sink the white ball....

examplerrrrrrsss

Well, one example relating to the post below. Prost.

Oh girl - you need to know

image / fashion gone rouge.

Bronwyn made a bow from a plasitc bag. It's wonderful, and it has sucessfully (along with my rather huge new sunglasses) completed my; 'I'm-copying-Lady-Gaga' look.' I'm happily tired, after a weekend of hanging out in sleepouts, learning too many things, and feeling-not-so-stressed. Oh the bliss! You spoil me!

doctor it

image/ the fashionisto.

As I sit here and watch the news, having just completed twenty two photos for my first photogrpahy internal, I'm thinking; why are people so mean? Police in Whaakatane were cruel to Rawiri (I've forgotten his last name. Sorry). Mother Nature hates us. But I feel pretty serene. I think it's just the calm in the storm. I'm pretty stressed. But it's all good. Could be worse, can't complain and all that jazz. At least Yuri Pleskun in this shoot is calm after a freak-out. It's almost Hulkeques.

I just don't know what to do with myself!

image / fashion gone rouge.

I was pretty bummed to find out that the fringe ends soon. But I like the way the giant, plasitc flowers are engulfing the model in the above photo. Everything is Alice In Wonderland themed, and I think I'm being over-loaded. Or perhaps I'm just stressed.

put my coat on faster!

images/ lonely hearts.

Lonely Hearts has released their underwear collection a little bit back, and I've only had a look just then, and it's wonderful. Normally, anything with a tag line that has; 'lonely' and 'hearts' in it is automatically pure, white gold to me, but this surpassed all my expectations. Now, don't get too hyped up (but I seriously recommend you look at the collection), but I love it. Like, actually. It's amazing, and I've reached the point where I'm wondering about Belle Birds lay-by terms.

Stop calling! Stop calling!

As I sit here not doing my photography or history work, I'm starting to think that maybe this whole; 'stress out' thing isn't what it's cracked up to be. In fact I'm going to stop now. The above photo repeats my obbsession with pretty pixie people. The shoot's pretty cool, the models all look mega sulky but I like it. It's all to do with nature and the like. The photots are just all really nice. See the rest here. I say you should. But I'm not the boss of you.

I-I-I'll be dancing.

I love Garnance Dore (there's a little dash over the 'e' that is so french - it's awesome). I was trawling through my bookmarks just before, and found the link. She's just really nice, and cool. And her boyfriend is The Satorialist. Ohh yeeah. That is what I call one stylin' couple that's for sure. Yep. I feel like a Stalker now. But a cool stalker. The kind who suprises you with with little presents on the day your first goldfish died (for me it's next monday for all those who want to know). Life is pretty gosh darn nice right now. Which is freaking sweet, and just by the by,I was joking about the day my first goldfish died. It was truamatic, that I blocked it out of my memory. (:

i should have left my phone at home - because this is a disater!

image / dimitri

the thing is, people in general are really annoying. they never do what you want them to do. but sometimes you realise how fantastic they really are. lady gaga and beyonce's new song telephone is pretty cool. it's just real kickass. i really, really like it. i have a huge girl-crush on lady gaga. oh the mirth! i hope you had a good day, because i did. reciting shakespeare with an apple core in my mouth, epic win.

IQ of a fence post.

image / dimitri

the issue i have with beautiful people is just that. they are beautiful, and there are so many things thats trail behind that fact. they're concieted, rude, pretentious and sometimes horribly judgemental. sometimes. other times they're great, and they are (undeniably) nice to look at. some of the most beautiful people (aside from my wonderful friends) are awkward, rational and strange. i know this boy, who is the personification of the word; pixie. he is beautiful. i'm sure if i told him, he'd eitehr not listen, walk away, or both. i know a girl who is so amazinly attractive, people fall at her feet in pure wonderment. but i wouldn't want to be like that. they have character flaws that remind me of shakespearen tradgies, or maybe i'm just green with envy. i've forgotten where i was going with this, and the piano's been drinking.

no touchy touch.

i love listening in to other people's conversations. it is so much fun. why are you talking about the links between star wars and the last king of england? how is a toilet with legs funny? what old man (bro)? it's liek prying into someone's life, just without all the stalking. watching people is really fun too. you can make up stories, analyse their body lanuage and so much more. although, sometimes it goes a step too far. like when i want to tuck in a shirt, or pull out the hair tie, or roll up the person's pant leg just that little bit. no, that's more creepy than anything. but i've got restraint. i don't touch people i don't know (unless i bump them as i walk by - and that's totally legit). so in short, it's fine to look (unless you're looking in windows - that's creepy, icky and if you do it to me, i'm calling the police), but no touching.

it's not four o' clock in the morning.

images / hobo gestapo

i hate being tired, pissed off, run down, stressed, hungry, cold, thirsty and many more things besides. hobo gestapo's stuff is so film noir it's insane. which, is infact how i feel right now. i think maybe it's a life hangover, although, somehow i doubt it. atleast maggie's making a blog, and i'm not too cold, and i have my water. i'd eat my sandwitch, but i'm in a libray. the sandwitch thing was a deliberate pun. sometimes, you've just got to sit back and do stuff. real work. classics homework, here i bleedin' well come.

i just don't know what do to with myseeeellllff.

all images/ neil stewart.

i must be the bestest procrastornator of all time. as i trawl through neil stewart's website, the calmness and the slice-of-time moods of his photographs seem to take on a more hidden meaning in the echooing silence of the libray. photography homework? i don't have my book (that i actually do need). so...? maybe i'll have a nap in teh common room, look through some of stewart's stuff some more, snooze, be harrowing, relax. i recommend stewart. see more of his stuff here

lets talk about....

\

image/ fashion gone rouge

warning to anyone from my family reading this; stop while you're a head, we're talking about sexuality and attuides toward female liberation.

as i trundle about in my high heeled, brown suede ankle boots, it appears to me that the general population seem to be afraid of unabashed female sexualtiy. i strut about, unashamed, while most people either don't make eye contact, or look away. it's apple juice for god's sake, not some kind of alurring whiskey, or some serum gifted to me by cupid (who isn't a cherub - more of a desenting renagade - god damn 'square' pop-culture turning awesome deities into some sort of valentines day mutants). sure, high heels were once invented for the benefit of males. guys.men. whatever you want to call them. but i don't wear them because i want to attract male atteantion (if anything, you can all just piss off. you only ever complicate things - oh my feminist forebearers would be so proud!), i wear them because they make me feel good. i understand the long held views that high heels (h)opress women, break their feet and suck up vast amounts of money for no real gain (in fact, three months of wear until they fall apart, if you don't care for them). but they make me feel awesome, powerful and frankly, kick ass. in short, don't judge mejust because i'm ruining my back with two and a half inch heels. i like them, and if you don't, tough.

second star trek post in twenty mintues!

i can't remember what this movie is called. it's going to drive me insane. but it is real good. the actor on the left is anton yelchin, who is up there with michael cera as far as cuteness factor goes. they're both so dorky - but anton is slightly better at acting.

on the starboard bow!

image/ yvan rodic.

i had something to say, but i've forgotten. all is well though, which is good. life is like a painter's pallet. it's full of colours and some stuff happens. i think we're winning the league, but i don't know the rules so who really knows? i - for one - don't. i wish i knew some one called chekhov, then i'd make him (he has to be male, sexist i know) like chekhov from star trek and life would be grand!

visual trickery!

image/ matt stuart.

the bestest thign ever about visual trickery, is how you feel that burst of joy of when you see the joke, the trick or the hidden image in the photo. matt stuart is a master of this. he amazes me, and as i sit in teh common room, surrounded by music i'll never understand, and in the company of a boy i've known for a long time, and sexist (but not in a rude way) pixie child, with the impending doom of my photography internal, stuart's work brightens up my day. with a tag line that reads; matt stuart; shoots people. there is no way it can fail to make to me giggle out loud. see more of hsi stuff here

things just look better in black and white.

image / hedi slimane.

a friend of mine called lennart (that's said lennard - he's german. [: ), introduced me to this guy called hedi slimane. he takes photos. the majority of them are in black and white. which is pretty cool. on the whole photography now, i want an slr camera. i should email mr slimane and ask what he shoots with. but i'm to chicken right now, so i'll do it later. here's the link to his website. ohh yarr!

sparkley suits, assignments and sulky-ness

image/the fashionisto
so yes. i have assignments slowly eating my sanity, and i want to curl up and sleep. i like the sparkley suit jacket. i want one. but it probably costs a jillion, billion dollars. and further more; homoeo is not an appropiate name to call some one. period.

"use the dead birds in a suit or something"

image/fashion gone rouge.

lara stone is amazing. not only does she have a gap in her teeth, but she is a real good model. i really love the shadows in this editorial. it's really nice. (: short posts today, but a lot of them.

a giant tire swing.

michael cera is really cute. he is good actor. (: that is all.

joy to the world!

image/ fashion gone rouge

fashiongonerouge has come back online! three cheers for the interwebs and all the brilliant things it brings. i have about five hours to finish my seven to eight minute speech. the chances of me making it? maybe nill. hopefully though. indirect racism is the proverbal scum of the earth, and i have odd fellows. mya is back, and so is fashion gone rouge. now i must be back to writing. can you tell my thoughts are super scattered?

joey kisses chandler on friends.

there is this photographer called derek henderson. he's awesome. as in; my new favorite photographer. he doesn't do anything fancy, and he doesn't do anything amazing to the photos, but it's so beautifully organic and i totally love it. check out his work. because it's that good.
